Socialism was popularized by the German philosopher Karl Marx in the 19th century. He was an atheist who totally rejected God and the bible. Contrary to the teaching of Scripture, Marx believed that all the ills of society, inequality, crime, etc, could be solved by socialism.
Christians understand that earthly problems are rooted in a spiritual condition and cannot be solved by the government or some social system alone. Christians should understand that all forms of Marxism, socialism, or communism, are contrary to the bible and Christianity.
Christians everywhere should oppose all forms of socialism.
At its core socialism is theft and therefore breaks the 8th commandment, Ex 20:15 You shall not steal. Socialist regimes hold a gun to your head and take everything you have in the name of redistributing it to others who have less than you. This of course never happens, and wealth collected goes to a very few who are in charge.
The idea of owning land and leaving an inheritance comes from the bible. It was God's idea for humans to build wealth, own property, trade with others, and pass an inheritance of wealth down to their relatives. In socialism, the "State" owns everything, controls everything, and runs everything. It also ruins everything. When the state runs things like the oil industry in Venezuela, it goes from a profitable business to a bankrupt business in a short amount of time. This is the opposite of what the bible teaches.
Socialism claims there is a limited amount of money, that the rich have more than their fair share. This is the opposite of what the bible teaches. "Give and it will be given unto you...". "He who sows abundantly will receive abundantly..." These are the foundations of biblical economics. In the words of my pastor Phil Pringle, "If He can get it through you, He can get it to you."
Socialism creates less of everything, God creates more of everything.
