Here is the definition of modern capitalism:
An economic system is characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decisions, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market. And of free markets Merrium-Websters says they an economy operating by free competition. Both of these are biblical concepts.
I'll be musing from time to time on this subject because of two reasons, 1. Millennials and younger generations are opening themselves up to Socialism like us Baby Boomers never thought possible and 2. Even in Christian settings, I hear the rumblings of terms like "equality" and "fairness" and "economic distribution" which have their roots in the very essence of Socialism, a way of organizing a society in which major industries are owned and controlled by the government rather than by individual people and companies. This is derived from the perception of unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.
Let me start by throwing out some thoughts for future discussion.
As Christians, we are responsible primarily to God.
God is the only true central planner.
Socialistic central planning is demonic; it is man's attempt to replace God.
The first thing Socialists do is kill religion and people of faith because Socialistic central planning requires a tyrannical elite.
Individual responsibility because of our rights coming from God requires individual initiative. Making decisions for my life and those I love require personal liberty.
Stay tuned.
